Five months after Justice BR Gavai was sworn in as the 52^nd Chief Justice of India, the government has kicked-off the process to appoint his successor in Justice Surya Kant. The incumbent CJI, BR Gavai, is scheduled to demit office on November 23, news agency PTI reported, quoting sources.
