Justice Tara Vitasta Ganju received an emotional farewell at the Delhi High Court as she prepared to take charge of her new post at the Karnataka High Court. During her speech, she thanked her family for their constant support, especially her mother and daughter, who were present at the ceremony. A touching moment was captured on camera when Justice Ganju noticed her daughter in tears. Seeing her emotional, Justice Ganju softly told her, “If you cry, I’ll cry."
According to Bar and Bench reports, the Central government approved and announced Justice Ganju’s transfer to Lucknow on October 14. However, the decision was not welcomed by many lawyers. Several members of the Bar, including the Delhi High Court Bar Association and its women lawyers’ group, raised objections. They even sent letters to Chief Justice of India BR Gavai in disagreement with the transfer and asked to reconsider their decision.

Justice Ganju Speaks About The Role Of Judiciary
During her speech, Justice Tara Vitasta Ganju said that the judiciary’s role is not just to resolve cases but also to protect the main principles of the Constitution — liberty, equality and justice for everyone.
She said, “It is our solemn duty to ensure that the law remains a shield for the weak and not a sword for the powerful. The confidence of the people in this institution is its greatest strength and that confidence must be preserved through integrity, independence and transparency. And to the younger members of the bar, you are the future of this profession. Cultivate discipline, humility and patience."
“A true measure of an advocate is not the number of cases argued, but the fairness and dignity with which they are conducted. Never lose sight of the fact that the profession of law, above all else, is a service to the court, to your clients and to society," Justice Ganju added.
After Justice Tara Vitasta Ganju’s farewell, Justice Arun Monga, who earlier served at the Rajasthan High Court, officially joined the Delhi High Court in July 2025.
