The Lokayukta police on Friday night caught Sharanabasappa Subedar, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Kalaburagi South Sub-division, and four other officials red-handed while they were allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹10 lakh in exchange for securing the settlement of a civil matter case.
Mr. Subedar, writer Chandrakant, police constable Raghavendra and two others were trapped by the Lokayukta police.
According to the complainant, Revansiddayya, Mr. Subedar had demanded ₹40 lakh to settle the case related to the land and ₹10 lakh as an advance.
All five accused were booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and taken into custody for further investigation.
