Kalikanathur-Puthenkulangara road in Mannar panchayat inaugurated

Fisheries and Culture Minister Saji Cherian has said that the Kerala government is constructing quality roads under various schemes. He was inaugurating the Kalikkanathur-Puthenkulangara road in Mannar grama panchayat at a function at Kunnathoor temple junction on Sunday.

“In the past 10 years, two roads in the panchayat were constructed by including them under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) scheme. The Kalikkanathur-Puthenkulangara road project was successfully completed after overcoming several challenges. The road will be especially beneficial to residents of five wards in Mannar panchayat,” Mr. Cherian said.

The 5.12-km Kalikkanathur–Puthenkulangara road passes through Wards 10, 11, 12, 13, and 15 of Mannar panchayat. It connects Cherukol North, Karazhma and Areekarappadi in Mavelikkara block with the Kayamkulam-Thiruvalla road.

The project was completed with 60% funding from the Union government and 40% from the State government. The total cost of the project, including five years of road maintenance, was ₹3 crore.

Kodikunnil Suresh, MP, presided. Mannar grama panchayat president T.V. Ratnakumari, Mavelikara block panchayat welfare standing committee chairperson B.K. Prasad and others attended the function.
