Kalpana Soren Targets BJP in Ghatshila Rally, Advocates for JMM Candidate Somesh Chandra Soren

Ghatshila: Filling in for her husband and chief minister Hemant Soren, who suddenly cancelled his bypoll rally, JMM’s Gandey MLA and star campaigner Kalpana Soren flew in to Ghatshila on Thursday and targeted BJP at an election rally.Addressing the rally, Kalpana called BJP an “outsiders’ party” and appealed to voters to stay united as members of the JMM family to strengthen the Hemant Soren-led govt. While seeking support for party candidate and Mahagathbandhan nominee Somesh Chandra Soren at Gandhania ghat in Dampara, Kalpana recalled how both late JMM patriach Shibu Soren and Ramdas Soren had a long-standing relationship in safeguarding Jharkhand and working for the development of its people.“Both of them left for their heavenly abode almost at the same time this year, creating a vacuum not only in their respective families but in the state, too. They lived and died for Jharkhand. Now, it is time for all of you to stand with the bereaved families by supporting him (Somesh) so that he can continue to work for the holistic progress of Ghatshila and Jharkhand, at large. Voting for him will strengthen Hemant Soren, who has taken up the mantle to put this state and its people on the map of development,” she said, mostly in the Santhali language.

BJP has fielded Babulal Soren, son of former CM and Seraikela MLA Champai Soren, against Somesh. Babulal unsuccessfully contested the polls in the last election.Claiming that “BJP believed in looting the state”, Kalpana said, “Now, they are trying to project him (the BJP candidate) as a changed man. But Somesh da, like his father Ramdas da, has an engineering background and is rooted in his community.”She referred to the “turnout of women in large numbers at every rally as indicative of their love for their dada (Hemant Soren), who has rolled out a slew of schemes, including the Maiya Samman Yojana, for their uplift”.
