The Associated Management of Primary and Secondary Schools in Karnataka (KAMS) has filed a complaint with the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) against the Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (KSCPCR) alleging harassment.
The association accused the State commission of targeting private schools. “KSCPCR is targeting only private unaided schools and also violating the norms by bringing police to the schools campuses. The KSCPCR officials have repeatedly entered the private schools without prior notice, directly entering class rooms, sending teachers outside and talking to students behind closed doors and this amounts to trespassing,” the complaint claims.
The complaint also mentions a case in which the State commission’s representatives “threatened” school authorities into refunding fees to a student who was detained in class 9, as per rules.
KAMS has urged immediate action against the KSCPCR, an inquiry by NCPCR keeping the chairperson of KSCPCR and other members under suspension.
