Vishnu Manchu is gearing up for the release of his upcoming pan-India mythological film, 'Kannappa' which is hitting the big screens this weekend. The actor-filmmaker reveals how stepping into the shoes of the iconic devotee.'Kannappa' is a mythological action drama directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh; it's based on the legendary tale of Kannappa, a tribal hunter, who revered Lord Shiva above all. Vishnu portrays the titular character in the film.Speaking to IANS, Vishnu shared his experience of stepping into this legendary character. "Portraying a devotee of Kannappa's magnitude forces daily introspection," he said. "I built a routine: dawn training, brief meditation, then work."
Vishnu felt that while he put himself into shape, he also had to put himself in an emotional and mental place. "That discipline keeps ego in check and reminds me why the story matters.
I'm more deliberate about the decisions I make on set and off set because I'm carrying the weight of a man who never hesitated."Bringing 'Kannappa' to life hasn't been an easy feat. Vishnu admitted that the creative and emotional demands of the project were intense.
"Two fronts," he explained. "Creatively, striking the balance between scale and sincerity—spectacle cannot drown out substance."Vishnu also mentioned the intense creative and emotional challenges. He said. "Creatively, to find the balance between scale and authenticity-spectacle can't overtake content."Vishnu was aware that he was walking on holy ground as he said that when you honour a legend that a lot of people are entitled to regard as holy, there are no corners cut. He said, "Emotionally, honoring a legend that many hold sacred meant zero shortcuts: constant consultations with historians, priests, and language experts. If we didn't earn their trust, the visuals wouldn't matter."'Kannappa' includes special appearances from superstars Prabhas, Akshay Kumar, Mohanlal, and Kajal Aggarwal.The movie will be released on June 27.
