MADIKERI: Authorities have seized 42 quintals of rice released by the state government for supply to BPL families under the Anna Bhagya scheme.One person has been arrested in connection with the case. The operation followed a tip-off about the illegal collection and transportation of rice from Somwarpet to Konanur in neighbouring Hassan district.The seized rice, valued at Rs 1,42,920, was allegedly being diverted to the black market, where it was polished and resold at inflated prices. Police registered a case based on a complaint lodged by Taluk Food Inspector Yashaswini.
