The Karnataka Farmers’ Federation on Tuesday urged the State government to immediately provide a compensation of ₹50 lakh to the family of Rajshekarappa, who was killed in a tiger attack, and also offer a government job to one of his family members.
A delegation of office-bearers of the federation, led by its president Kurubur Shanthkumar visited the residence of the deceased at Sargur in Mysuru district and offered condolences to the bereaved family.
Mr. Shanthkumar said that the construction of resorts inside forest areas has forced wild animals to move out of their natural habitats and enter human settlements, resulting in human-animal conflicts and loss of lives.
Several resorts have been built inside the forest for the sake of recreation and tourism, increasing human movement and disturbing wildlife, Mr. Shanthkumar stated.
