A man in Karnataka allegedly killed his four-year-old daughter before taking his own life after his wife reportedly eloped with her lover. The tragic incident took place on Tuesday night.

The bodies of Lokesh, 37, and his daughter Niharika were found by police on Wednesday near a government pre-university college in Mulbagal, Kolar district.

According to the police, Niharika’s body was found inside an abandoned car by the roadside, while Lokesh’s body was located nearby under a tree.

Lokesh, who married Navyashri four years ago, lived with his family in Mudiyanuru village, Mulbagal taluk. On November 4, he had filed a missing person complaint after his wife left a note stating that she no longer wished to stay with him and instructed him not to search for her, The Indian Express reported.

The note reportedly asked Lokesh to take care of their daughter and stated that she would not return, even if authorities intervened. Following the complaint, Lokesh left home with Niharika in a car around 8 pm, where he took the drastic step.

A case has been registered under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), concerning abetment of suicide, based on a report from Lokesh’s father, Venkataramappa.

Preliminary information suggested that there had been personal differences in the family, and authorities are reviewing all relevant details to determine the sequence of events leading to the incident.
