Karnataka rain: Holiday for schools in five taluks of Shivamogga district

Considering heavy rains in several parts of Shivamogga district in Karnataka, the administration has declared a holiday for schools in five taluks of the district on August 29.

The schools and anganwadi centres in Shivamogga, Sagar, Hosanagar, Shikaripur and Sorab taluks will remain closed. In Sagar, Hosanagar and Sorab taluks, pre-university colleges will also remain closed.

The administration has instructed schools and colleges to hold special classes on coming holidays to compensate for the loss of classes due to rains.

The Indian Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rains in the Malnad region on August 29.
