With the IMD declaring a red alert in Kodagu in Karnataka, authorities have declared a holiday for anganwadis and colleges in the district on May 26 and 27.
While the Kodagu district administration has declared a holiday for anganwadis for two days to ensure the safety and security of children, Kodagu University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Ashok Sangappa Alur has ordered closure of all government and private colleges under the university’s jurisdiction on May 26 and 27.
“If any examination had been scheduled during the period, the authorities concerned will be directed to reschedule them,” Dr. Alur said in Mysuru.
The Mysuru district administration has ordered closure of anganwadis in its jurisdiction in May 26.
The Chikkamagaluru district administration has declared a holiday for anganwadi centres in Chikkamagaluru, Mudigere, Kalasa, N.R. Pura and Koppa taluks from May 26 to 28, to avoid any untoward incident during heavy rains.
Many parts of the district have been receiving incessant rains over the last three days. On May 25, an autorickshaw driver died after a tree fell on him in Koppa taluk.
The district administration of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi declared a holiday for all anganwadis on May 26 in view of heavy rains. Schools in the districts are yet to reopen after summer holidays.
