Shivamogga
The Tiger and Lion Safari located at Tyavarekoppa near Karnataka’s Shivamogga is all set to get new attractions. As part of the animal exchange programme with zoos in Indore and Aurangabad, the Shivamogga zoo will have new arrivals that include tigers and lions.
A team of officials from Indore and Aurangabad, who visited the zoo in Shivamogga on Saturday (September 20, 2025), gave their assent to the exchange programme.
Among the new arrivals, Aurangabad zoo will be sending one male white tiger and two female Royal Bengal Tigers on October 2. Similarly, Indore zoo will be sending two Asiatic lions —one male and one female— besides a male Royal Bengal tiger.
In return, Shivamogga zoo will be sending two Asiatic lions (one male and one female), two sloth bears (one male and one female), and two golden jackals (one male and one female) to the Aurangabad zoo on Thursday (September 25). The same day, it will send two pairs of gaurs and two pairs of ostriches to Indore zoo, according to a press statement.
