Shivamogga Police have made security arrangements for the immersion procession of Hindu Mahasabha Ganapathi to be held here on Saturday. Hundreds of people from Shivamogga and neighbouring towns are expected to take part in the procession that covers many major streets of the city.

The workers of Vishwa Hindu Parishat and other Hindutva groups have put saffron flags and hoardings in the city to mark the occasion. Shivamogga district administration has diverted the movement of the traffic on the day to ensure a smooth procession. The procession will begin at Bheemeshwara temple and end at river Tunga, covering NMP Main Road, Ramanna Shreshtri Park, Gandhi Bazar Road, S.N. Circle, A.A. Circle, Nehru Road, Gopi Circle, Durgi Gudi, Mahaveera Circle, DVS Circle and Kote Road.

The administration has prohibited parking of vehicles on the procession route. The vehicles entering the city from Bhadravathi have to take the bypass route to reach the bus stand. Heavy vehicles reaching the city from Chitradurga and Holehonnur have to turn towards MRS Circle and take the bypass. Similarly, those vehicles coming from Harihara and Davangere have to take the bypass via Sangolli Rayanna Circle, Shankaramutt Circle, and Holehonnur Circle.

The buses headed towards Bengaluru from the bus stand have to take the bypass and the MRS Circle route. Those heading towards Shikaripur, Sorab, Harihar, and Davangere have to take the Sagar Road, Alkola Circle, Raj Kumar Circle, and Bommanakkate-Savalanga route. The movement of vehicles has been prohibited on Kote Road and Old Barline Road in the city.

The police have held several meetings with people from various organisations to ensure a peaceful procession. Additional police forces from neighbouring districts will also be deployed. Many schools in the city have declared a holiday on Saturday, considering the traffic diversions.
