Kavitha demands cancellation of GHMC tenders

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC K. Kavitha has demanded Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to ensure the cancellation of tenders for the purchase of vehicles for Monsoon Emergency Teams and Instant Repair Teams in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).

Alleging that GHMC Engineering department officials are trying to benefit certain dealers in the tenders, she claimed that the regulations were in favour of a foreign company with only two showrooms in Hyderabad. Since the managers of these two showrooms are reluctant to sign MoUs with Telangana contractors, the Telangana contractors obtained the MoUs from Karnataka showrooms, she said, adding that the authorities are pressuring the contractors to submit physical copies within a short period.

She accused the authorities of changing rules for the benefit of one organisation and two contracting agencies, resulting in an additional burden of ₹5.85 crore per year on the civic body. The MLC stressed that the CM’s supervision of the Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) department should ensure immediate action against the alleged irregularities.
