Telangana Jagruthi president and MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha claimed that she was unfairly suspended from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). “The party took a unilateral decision in my case. I didn’t really want to come out. I came out under unavoidable circumstances,” she said, addressing a press conference in Nizamabad on Sunday.
On the second day of her ‘Janam Baata’ yatra, a Statewide tour aimed at engaging with people and understanding their grievances, she visited several villages in Mopal mandal as well as a few places in Nizamabad city. Ms. Kavitha alleged that the BRS is dominated by some individuals with vested interests, who forgot their responsibilities, leading to the party’s loss in the last General elections. She criticised both the BRS and Congress governments for their failures.
Accusing the ruling Congress of neglecting needs of different sections of society, she alleged that the Congress government had failed to provide equal opportunities for everyone, particularly women, SCs, and STs. Ms. Kavitha demanded that the government provide ₹ 1 crore to the families of Telangana martyrs and fulfil promises made to activists. She also emphasised the need for social justice and equal opportunities for all communities.
When asked about the launch of a new political outfit, she said, “Establishing a party is not a great deal, but solving the pressing issues of the people is more important than the party.” Ms. Kavitha also clarified that she had not taken any stand on the Jubilee Hills byelections and would leave the decision to local Jagruthi activists. She also added that the decision on local body polls would be taken when the schedule is finalised.
