Telangana Jagruthi president K. Kavitha has sought the suo motu intervention of the Supreme Court in the Telangana Group-I recruitment and cancellation of the examination, alleging violations of the Presidential Order under Article 371-D of the Constitution.
In her letter addressed to the Chief Justice of India, Ms. Kavitha urged an independent judicial inquiry into the examination and recruitment procedures to ensure transparency and accountability alleging “serious procedural lapses” and “constitutional violations.”
She pointed out that the examination, held nearly a decade after the formation of Telangana, had already been cancelled twice earlier, leaving lakhs of aspirants anxious and disheartened.
Referring to Article 371-D, she underscored that the provision is a constitutional safeguard ensuring fair and equitable opportunities for local candidates and promoting regional balance and social justice. “The alleged disregard of this constitutional assurance by the TGPSC amounts to a grave constitutional violation,” she said. Ms Kavitha further said that despite repeated appeals and complaints, the government had remained silent.
