Kejriwal Says Punjab's Anti-Drug Drive Is Exposing Those Linked To Narcotics Trade

Kejriwal claimed that previous governments failed to curb the spread of drugs in Punjab and the current administration was taking sustained action against traffickers and peddlers.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday said the Punjab government’s anti-drug campaign, Yudh Nashean Virudh, is exposing individuals allegedly involved in the narcotics trade and strengthening efforts to make the state drug-free.

His remarks came after Punjab Police arrested a BJP office-bearer and some of his associates in a drug-related case, an incident that has triggered a political exchange between the ruling AAP and the opposition party.

Referring to the development, Kejriwal said the Bhagwant Mann government’s crackdown on drug networks was helping uncover those allegedly linked to the illegal trade.

Taking to X, Kejriwal alleged that individuals associated with the BJP had been caught in connection with drug-related activities and questioned whether the party had links to the narcotics trade. The BJP has not publicly responded to the allegations.

Kejriwal also claimed that previous governments had failed to curb the spread of drugs in Punjab and said the current administration was taking sustained action against traffickers and peddlers.

“By striking at chitta, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann has once again given Punjab’s youth hope for a bright future," Kejriwal said.

According to AAP leaders, the Yudh Nashean Virudh campaign has intensified action against drug peddlers and narcotics networks across the state, with the government positioning the drive as a key part of its efforts to tackle substance abuse and organised drug trafficking.

The ruling party said the campaign is aimed at dismantling drug supply chains while supporting broader efforts to curb addiction and protect young people from narcotics.
