Kelly Stafford has shared how false rumors about her husband, Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, hurt their family. On Sunday, August 31, 2025, she spoke on the “Sunday Sports Club” podcast with host Allison Kuch and revealed that her daughters were teased at school after speculation that Matthew could be traded from the Rams before the new NFL season.

Some children told her girls that the reason was their mom, which left Kelly shocked and upset.“There was speculation of [whether] Matthew is getting traded this past year,” Kelly, 36, said on the podcast. “There were rumors that ‘his wife was the problem,’ and that’s part of the reason. … The kids at school were picking on them, like, ‘You’re gonna have to move because your mom is an issue, like, she’s too loud and whatever.’”Kelly and Matthew Stafford, 37, have four children together — twins Sawyer and Chandler, both 8, daughter Hunter, 7, and daughter Tyler, 5.“My girls came home and they’re like, ‘Mommy, are we having to move because of you?’ I was like, ‘Because of me?’” she recalled. “I was, like, ‘What the f***?’ It wasn’t the Rams.”

Despite the trade rumors, Matthew Stafford stayed with the Los Angeles Rams, the team he joined in 2021 after leaving the Detroit Lions.
Kelly said she always looks forward to each NFL season and hopes for her husband’s good health on the field.
“It is all fun, and every year I look forward to another season,” she said. “Every year, I pray that it’s a healthy season.”Kelly Stafford and her daughters often watch Rams home games from a private suite at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. But she also enjoys sitting in the stands during away games. “I will say, though, when we go to away games, we sit [in the bleachers] and I kind of like it,” Kelly shared.
“My girls love to sit there. She is also preparing matching family outfits with Matthew’s name and fun designs. “I always am telling myself, ‘This is his last year, [so] I’m going to have some fun,’” she joked.
