The bodies of five people from Kerala who were killed in a bus accident on June 9, 2025 in Kenya when they were on a tour, were brought by a Qatar Airways flight from Doha to the Cochin International Airport on Sunday morning (June 15, 2025.)

Those killed are Jasna (29) from Muvattupuzha; her daughter Roohi Mehrin (one-and-a-half-year-old); Geetha Shoji Isaac (58) from Cherukol, near Mavelikara; Riya Ann (41) and her daughter Tyra Rodrigues (7) from Kanhirampara, Mannoor, in Palakkad.

From Kochi, the bodies of four persons were taken to the respective towns, while that of one would be laid to rest in Kochi. The bodies were received at the airport by Minister for Industries P. Rajeeve and others.

The intervention of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan helped in the Centre relaxing rules on yellow fever vaccination certificate for the relatives accompanying the bodies back to Kerala, it is learnt.
