Kerala HC directs Cusat to ensure voter anonymity in staff council poll

The Kerala High Court on Monday (June 15, 2026) directed Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) to ensure the anonymity of voters in the upcoming Staff Council Elections, scheduled on on June 17.

The ballot paper must be printed on the condition that the serial number is only marked on the counterfoil and not on the ballot paper, to avoid any chances of revealing the identity of the voter. 

The petition was filed by Harigovind P.C, an assistant professor at Cusat, based in Malappuram, seeking orders to ensure transparency and anonymity of voters in the election process. The matter will be heard on June 24.
