Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court Nitin Jamdar formally launched Niyamapadakosham (legal glossary), a comprehensive compilation of 6,375 legal terms by the High Court, here on Saturday (November 1, 2025).
It is part of a series of major initiatives of the IT directorate of the High Court launched on State Formation Day, which coincided with the 70th establishment day of the Kerala High Court, according to a release.
The glossary was launched with the objective of ensuring clarity, accuracy, and uniformity in the use of legal terminology in Malayalam. In his address, the Chief Justice observed that the High Court had been translating important judgments of the Supreme Court and the High Court into Malayalam to make judicial pronouncements more accessible to the public. The preparation of the legal glossary, he noted, would play a pivotal role in achieving linguistic consistency and precision. He also launched a series of other key initiatives of the IT directorate, according to the release.
They included ‘SheBox’, an online complaint management system designed for female staff members of the High Court to register complaints related to sexual harassment at workplace.
The portal, developed exclusively by women developers of the IT directorate, stands as a testament to the High Court’s commitment to women empowerment and workplace safety, the release said.
The Chief Justice also declared the completion of e-Office implementation in the High Court, all courts in the district judiciary, the Union Territory of Lakshadweep, and associated judicial units. The e-Office system facilitates paperless file processing, enabling digital movement, approval, and archiving of files, thereby eliminating the need for physical copies, the release added.
