Controversial journalist T.P. Nandakumar, also known as ‘Crime’ Nandakumar, has been booked for posting on social media a video against Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan with alleged obscene content.
The Cyber Crime police, Ernakulam City, on Friday (August 29, 2025) suo motu registered an FIR against Mr. Nandakumar, a native of Mankav, Kozhikode, under Section 192 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023 which deals with wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot and Sections 67 and 67 (a) of the Information Technology (Amendment) Act 2008 that handle offences relating to publication or transmission of obscene material in electronic form.
According to the FIR, the accused posted the smutty video on his Facebook page, YouTube channel on Friday (August 29, 2025). The police said they came across the video, with a caption linking the Chief Minister with a controversial woman allegedly involved in a sensational scam, during cyber patrolling.
Mr. Nandakumar was booked in similar defamatory cases in the past too. In December 22, he was arrested by the Ernakulam North police for allegedly defaming CM Vijayan on social media in connection with the SilverLine semi high-speed rail project.
