Kerala landslide: Man killed, wife critical injured after debris buries two homes in Idukki

NEW DELHI: A landslide in Kerala’s Idukki district has claimed the life of a man and left his wife critically injured, officials said.The incident occurred late on Saturday night near Adimali, when two houses were buried. The deceased has been identified as Biju, while his wife, Sandhya, was rescued after more than six hours of intensive efforts by local residents, police and Fire and Rescue personnel.

She has been shifted to a private hospital in Kochi for advanced treatment.Police said the landslide struck the national highway at Koombanpara, trapping the couple under a concrete slab. Rescue operations are reported to be in their final stages, with multiple teams on site and an NDRF team en route, according to Member of Parliament Dean Kuriakose.
