Minister for Local Self Governments M.B. Rajesh inaugurated the Kerala Development and Innovation Strategic Council (K-DISC)'s Innovation Day 2026 observance in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday (March 4, 2026).
The State-level distribution of specialised assistive, adaptive, and cognitive devices was also held as part of the event. The technological aids were developed as part of K-DISC's Social Technology and Research for Inclusive Design Excellence (STRIDE) initiative, with the devices developed with the direct involvement of differently abled individuals themselves, ensuring that the final products truly meet their unique needs. The collaborative process involved a synergy between higher education institutions, the Child Development Centre (CDC), and various hospitals to create solutions that foster independence and dignity.
T.M. Thomas Isaac, chief advisor of Vijnana Keralam, handed over the devices to the children, highlighting their crucial role in enhancing both learning and daily life.
