Khagaria voters seek solution to problem of annual floods

Khagaria: As electioneering in the four assembly constituencies of the district — Alouli (reserved), Khagaria, Beldaur and Parbatta — has picked up pace, with who’s who of both the major alliances seeking votes, the regions eyes a permanent solution to their perennial problem of annual floods.With the polls slated to be held in the first phase Nov 6, a number of political stalwarts, including Union home minister Amit Shah, LJP(RV) chief Chirag Paswan, deputy CM Samrat Chowdhary and leader of opposition in assembly Tejashwi Yadav, have already campaigned for their respective contestants.On Friday, BJP MP and Bhojpuri singer Manoj Tiwari organised a road show in favour JD(U) candidate Babloo Mandal from Khagaria.Political observers feel the voters are disillusioned. Subhash Chandra Joshi, a social activist, said that people of the region are yet to get any permanent solution to the recurring floods and massive erosion of cultivable land, besides rehabilitation of displaced people.
