The message was short and shocking—“I killed my wife for you"—and wasn’t sent once but to several women.

Bengaluru Police say Dr Mahendra Reddy GS, a city-based anaesthetist now under arrest for his wife’s murder, sent the chilling words to at least four or five women he had been in contact with over the past year. According to the Times of India, investigators said the texts were part of a pattern of obsessive, erratic communication that began months before Reddy’s wife’s death and continued even after he allegedly killed her.

Police sources said the doctor reached out to multiple women, some of them medical professionals, through social media and messaging apps. He reportedly boasted about killing his wife to prove his “love" and even sent one such message via a digital payment platform. A woman told officers she had blocked him earlier, only to receive another message months later claiming he had faked his own death in a car crash and “returned" for her.

Investigators believe the doctor had been cultivating online relationships with several women while still married. After his wife, Dr Kruthika Reddy, was found dead under suspicious circumstances on April 24, the case initially appeared to be a suicide. But inconsistencies in the post-mortem report and digital evidence soon led detectives to Dr Reddy himself.

Police allege that he used his medical expertise to administer a lethal dose of anesthetic medication before staging the scene. Following his arrest in mid-October in Manipal, Udupi district, officers recovered his phone and laptop, devices that now form the centrepiece of a widening investigation into his digital life and possible prior manipulation of other women.

The victim’s family had earlier said they had suspicions since the day she died. “We insisted on a postmortem, but Mahendra staged an emotional drama saying he couldn’t bear to see her body being cut," Kruthika’s sister, Dr Nikhita, was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

The report also quoted her as saying that the accused had opposed her sister’s plan of starting her own clinic. “She wanted to open a small clinic to help poor patients, but he never supported her. He didn’t even agree to register their marriage officially," Nikhita said.
