Ho. On August 19, the star’s management agency released an official statement about such actions on their social media accounts.
The statement read that fans should be careful, as many netizens had been using deepfake technology in order to impersonate Seon Ho to embezzle money and garner other benefits while pretending to be him. The statement also shared, “Actors and our employees never request money or personal information from specific individuals through private contact under any circumstances. The act of impersonating an actor, as well as the spread of false information using deepfakes, is clearly an illegal act. We will continue to monitor and respond strongly in the future”.
The company promised that such activities and illegal actions would not be tolerated, and that strict and legal action would be taken against those who felt the need to use Seon Ho’s face to scam people.
