KL Deemed to be University, through its Skill Development division, has launched the second phase of “Skill Palaver”, a project-based learning initiative tailored for third-year B. Tech. students across CSE, ECE, AI&DS, CS&IT and IoT programmes. This event integrates the Hackathons into the academic structure of specialisation-based professional electives and industry-aligned skill courses.
The event is designed to inculcate hands-on and industry-relevant skills through a structured three-phase approach. They include Learnathon – Interactive sessions with industry experts on real-world problem statements; Virtual Review – In-semester evaluation by domain professionals and Hackathon and Open House – Final onsite evaluation and exhibition of solutions.
Phase 1 of ‘Skill Palaver’ was held on August 2 and 3, 2025 and the second phase of the Hackathon was held on August 23 and 24, 2025, across five key challenge areas- Cloud Technologies, Cybersecurity, Data Science and Data Analytics, Game Development and Embedded and IoT Systems Design.
The Learnathon involved deep-dive overnight sessions, followed by early-morning presentations of action plans by student teams, emphasising on endurance, innovation, and teamwork. “Skill Palaver is a transformative platform to nurture self-directed learning, team collaboration, and real-world problem-solving competencies among students to make them industry-ready by their pre-final year,” said Dean, Skill Development A. Srinath
One more phase of Skill Palaver is planned in September 2025. The event was organised under the guidance of Vice Chancellor GPS Varma and Pro VCs Venkatram and K Rajasekhara Rao.
