Kolkata’s independent music scene has a new contemplative addition with singer-songwriter Soham Bhattacharya, who performs under the name tHe soHam. He is set to release his latest single Questions & Mysteries.The track and its productionThe track, an introspective indie-folk composition written and composed by him explores themes of uncertainty, repetition and the quiet human search for meaning. Musically restrained and emotionally direct, the accompanying video mirrors the song’s reflective tone, drawing visual inspiration from the narrative simplicity associated with songs like Shadow Days by John Mayer and I Got You by Jack Johnson.The single has been produced by Kolkata-based musician and session artist Sunny Karmakar, known for his association with the musical duo Sourendro–Soumyojit and recent session work with National Award-winning filmmaker Srijit Mukherjee.The music video, shot across South Mumbai, was filmed in a single day by cinematographer Manish Jogani using only natural light, minimal equipment and no additional production team or stylisation — a stripped-down approach that complements the song’s themes of honesty and emotional stillness.With Questions & Mysteries, Soham continues to carve a space in the indie landscape that favours emotional sincerity over spectacle — positioning the song less as a statement and more as a quiet conversation with listeners navigating their own uncertainties.
