The State government on Wednesday approved two proposals for enhancing security on the Kovalam beach and surrounding areas at a total cost of ₹1.19 crore. The proposals cover installation of new street lights and CCTV system for outdoor surveillance.
Both the projects will be implemented by KELTRON Ltd., which had also prepared a report and a proposal in this regard. Under the first project, which will come at an estimated cost of ₹80.59 lakh, existing street lights will be dismantled and replaced with new ones. The installation of the new street lights will be completed within five months. This proposal includes a three-year warranty.
Under the second proposal, KELTRON will dismantle the existing CCTV infrastructure and install and commission new outdoor surveillance system on the beach area at a cost of ₹38.08 lakh. The project, which is to be completed within three months, includes a two-year comprehensive annual maintenance contract as well.
