After senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s allegations of “vote theft” in Mahadevapura Assembly Constituency in the Bangalore Central Lok Sabha seat, the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) submitted a petition to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Karnataka seeking investigation into all voters’ lists of 2024 Lok Sabha elections in all 28 parliamentary constituencies in the State.

The petition signed by AICC general secretaries K.C. Venugopal and Randeep Surjewala, KPCC chief D.K. Shivakumar and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah demanded that the CEO make available digital, machine-readable photo electoral rolls of all 28 Lok Sabha segments to the public.

Publish findings

The Congress leaders urged the CEO to publish the findings of investigation highlighting suspicious voters who had been added or deleted or substituted voters. After Mr. Gandhi left for Delhi, Mr. Shivakumar and other party leaders visited CEO V. Anbukkmar’s office and submitted the memorandum.

Their other demands included re-examination of the impact of dubious voters on the final electoral outcomes in all constituencies.

The Congress leaders demanded suspension, imposing fine and punishment of all electoral registration officers and assistant electoral registration officers who had signed “fraudulent” Form 6.

Serious matter

The Congress termed “vote theft” as a “very serious matter for not just Karnataka but for the entire nation and outstanding as a legitimate democracy in the world.”

The petition said “15% of all electors in one Assembly constituency in the 2024 LS election were fraudulent.”
