Harshit Rana, in the recently concluded ODI series against South Africa, has picked up four wickets from three games. In the third ODI, although he bowled brilliantly could not manage to scalp a wicket. Former Indian selector Krishnamachari Srikkanth speaking about Rana said, he bowls well, but he tends to slip in bad balls, and he loses rhythm.
“Harshit bowled brilliantly. He was unlucky not to take a wicket. The only issue with him is sometimes he bowls brilliantly and then bowls two bad balls. That’s where he is losing his rhythm. He shouldn’t overtry. He bowls a superb ball that comes into the right-hander and away from the left-hander. If he gets the control over his line and length, he can be a very useful bowler,” said Srikkanth on his YouTube channel.
“But most important is Arshdeep Singh. He always strikes in the first two overs. That’s a very important thing. Rickleton looked scared to even face him. I was a harsh critic of Harshit Rana. I wasn’t criticizing his bowling ability though, I was criticizing something else. But he has got the stuff to do well,” Srikkanth added.
Rana on critics
Rana has been in the eye of the storm with many experts as well as questioning his place in the Indian side. The KKR bowler on Sunday answered his critics with a devastating opening spell against South Africa where he snapped up 2 early wickets before wrapping up with another scalp.
“If I start listening to all these things, put them in my mind and take the field, I won’t be able to play cricket. I try to avoid as much as possible. I just pay attention to what I have to do on the ground. I don’t care about what is happening outside or what someone is saying about me. I just focus on my hard work and what I am going to do on the ground,” Rana said on how he deals with the criticism.
