Industries Minister P. Rajeeve said that the KSRTC’s double-decker service as part of budget tourism was in everyone’s wish list.

He was speaking after inaugurating the service here on Tuesday. Similar services have been launched in Thiruvananthapuram and Munnar as part of budget tourism. In Munnar, a double-decker bus with glass-covered roof is operating the service.

“We are familiar with similar services in cities like London. Efforts to introduce such a service in Kochi have made it a reality. City sights can now be enjoyed both from the upper and the lower decks of the bus,” Mr. Rajeeve said.

The double-decker service will give a fillip to the fast-developing Kochi city. The service will attract tourists, including those from within Kerala, he added.

T.J. Vinod, MLA, presided over the function that was held at the Ernakulam KSRTC bus stand. Hibi Eden, MP; K.J. Maxy, MLA, Mayor M. Anilkumar, KSRTC budget tourism chief traffic manager R. Udayakumar, Ernakulam ATO T.A. Ubaid, budget tourism State coordinator R. Sunilkumar, district coordinators Prashanth Velikkakam and R. Anish, and representatives of various political parties were present.
