The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) will roll out 143 more buses on long-distance, inter, and intra-district routes on August 21.
The BS6 category buses, which includes AC sleeper, AC seater-cum- sleeper, AC seater, premium superfast, fast-passenger, fast-passenger-link buses connecting districts, and mini-buses, are equipped with state-of-the-art safety systems and quality travel facilities.
The berths on the sleeper buses have AC vents, reading lights, mobile holder, plug point, bottle holder, luggage space, and curtains. The buses have smart TVs and are fitted with cameras inside and outside.
The seats and berths on the seater-cum-sleeper buses have been arranged in a 2+1 layout. The fast-passenger link bus have also been given new colours.
Digital ticketing, real-time bus tracking, smart travel card, smart student concession, and digital payment systems have been introduced.
As part of total digitalisation, software systems such as e-office, e-sutharyam inventory management system, e-estate, driving school management system, and courier management have also been completed.
The KSRTC and the Motor Vehicles Department will jointly organise an expo, ‘Transpo 2025’, at Kanakakunnu from August 22 to 24 to bring the latest technological changes and features in the automotive world to the public.
Various brands of cars, bikes, buses, and trucks, future transportation technologies, new buses launched by the KSRTC, historical pictures, videos, and miniatures of old buses have been included in the exhibition.
As part of the expo, a discussion titled “Anavandi- a dialogue” will be organised on August 23 at 11 a.m. at Nishagandhi Auditorium. A road safety seminar will be held on August 24 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will flag-off the buses and digitalisation session on August 21.
