Bhongir MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy said the BRS government, till December 2023, imposed traffic challans worth over ₹42 crore on auto drivers, and now its working president K.T. Rama Rao was trying to project himself as their saviour.
Terming the recent ‘auto campaign’ in Jubilee Hills as a political drama aimed at deceiving voters ahead of the bypoll, he said Mr. Rama Rao had not once shown concern for the welfare of auto drivers but suddenly remembered them because of bypolls.
Mocking BRS leaders for claiming that Telangana had turned ‘dark’ under the present regime, the MP said it was ironic coming from a party that had left the State in debt and distress. “The government is struggling to pay heavy interest on the indiscriminate loans raised by the BRS,” he added.
“BRS leaders promised to make Telangana a ‘New York’ but abandoned the State midway. In just two years, the Congress government has taken up desilting of tanks, drainage improvement and development of slum areas,” he said.
Referring to the Kaleshwaram project, he alleged that “water reached KCR’s farmhouse, funds went to his relatives and political posts were shared among family members. Nothing beneficial reached the people.”
The MP also blamed the BRS government’s confrontational stance with the Centre for depriving Telangana of thousands of crores in Central assistance. “Had the previous regime maintained cordial relations with the Union government, the State would have seen faster development,” he said.
