HYDERABAD
The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has given a call for dharnas across the State for two days in all mandal and district headquarters, to protest the State government’s decision to order a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the construction of Kaleshwaram Project barrages.
As part of the protests, the party is planning to hold rasta rokos (road blockade), bike rallies and protests in other forms. On Monday, the party ranks staged protests against the CBI probe into Kaleshwaram barrages at some places.
Working president of the party and former minister K.T. Rama Rao held a teleconference with party ranks on Monday and alleged that the CBI probe was a conspiracy against BRS by the Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party. Stating that the CBI probe into the Kaleshwaram Barrages was a conspiracy to divert Godavari water to non-basin areas by Andhra Pradesh, he said it was not just a conspiracy against BRS and KCR (K. Chandrasekhar Rao) but was against Telangana and its existence itself.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, who spoke against the CBI till the other day had changed his mind overnight and ordered a probe by the agency. He alleged that the conspiracy hatched together by Mr. Revanth Reddy, AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi was against Telangana in the guise of Kaleshwaram by stifling the voice of KCR and BRS to regain control over Telangana. He accused the Chief Minister of implementing the agenda of Mr. Naidu and Mr. Modi to indirectly support Polavaram-Banakacherla Link Project.
Meanwhile, party leaders V. Prashanth Reddy, K.P. Vivekanand, speaking separately, observed that Mr. Revanth Reddy’s decision on CBI probe had reiterated the bond between Congress and BJP. Another leader and party’s general secretary R.S. Praveen Kumar said the conspiracy behind going for CBI probe was to cause irreparable loss to Telangana over the next 100 years in the matter of river waters.
