APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU) Vice-Chancellor in-charge K. Sivaprasad has sought the intervention of Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar to resolve the administrative deadlock that has disrupted financial transactions and daily operations at the university.

He has reportedly attributed the crisis to the non-cooperation of State government nominees, who abstained from a recent Finance Committee meeting, which prevented the university from finalising its annual Budget.

‘Certificates not printed’

The Vice-Chancellor wrote to Mr. Arlekar, who also serves as the Chancellor of the university, explaining the challenges facing the KTU. While it has been unable to pay staff salaries this month, the university has also not disbursed pensions for the last two months. Besides, the printing of degree certificates has also been stalled.

The Finance Committee meeting had to be adjourned due to lack of quorum. The failure in approving the Budget for the current fiscal has delayed its presentation before the Syndicate and the Board of Governors. The Vice-Chancellor has convened a special Syndicate meeting on August 13 in a bid to reach consensus.
