Land dispute sparks clash at Raidurgam tea stall, four injured

Tension prevailed in Raidurgam late Tuesday night after a group of men stormed into a local tea stall and attacked four persons belonging to another community. The victims sustained minor injuries in the incident.

Clarifying that the altercation was not driven by communal motives, Raidurgam Inspector Ch. Venkanna said the clash stemmed from a long-standing land dispute between the two parties. “They have been at odds for nearly three years over parking issues in front of their shops. One group runs the tea stall, while the other rents nearby shutters. On Tuesday, the latter group, in an inebriated state, arrived at the stall and picked up an argument. The situation escalated into violence, with the groups fighting with hands and sticks,” he said.

Police have registered a case against four persons, one of whom has been arrested. Efforts are ongoing to trace the remaining accused.
