Political leaders stressed the importance of charity in ensuring equitable wealth distribution across the society during the inauguration of V. Siddarami Reddy Government Junior College building at Chinnagottigallu mandal in Tirupati district on Wednesday.
Former Chief Minister Nallari Kiran Kumar Reddy, who hails from the neighbourhood, eulogised the benevolence of the family members of former Zilla Parishad Chairman V. Siddarami Reddy for addressing the rural roads, water supply and educational needs of the backward region.
Tirupati district in-charge Minister Anagani Satya Prasad explained that the government was committed on popularising charity among the affluent to benefit their immediate society. Chittoor MP Daggumalla Prasada Rao recalled that family-owned charitable societies normally run educational institutions on their own, however, the Siddarami Reddy family had given away their land and property to the government.
Chandragiri MLA Pulivarthi Nani narrated how the family had given away their lands for charitable purposes such as ISKCON’s massive kitchen to serve midday meals, old age homes and educational institutions. Tirupati District Collector S. Venkateswar also urged the affluent to emulate Siddarami Reddy family in spreading kindness by distributing wealth for the needy.
