CPI State secretary G. Eswarayya on Saturday asserted that the Left parties were the only alternative for the nation as people were faced with a lot of problems due to the policies being implemented by the NDA Government.

Contrary to the tall claims by the NDA, India had, in fact, been on the back foot ever since the Modi rule began, due to the anti-people policies and the focus on politics of religion, he commented.

Addressing a Meet-the-Press organised by the AP Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ)  at the Vijayawada Press Club here, Mr. Eswarayya, who replaced K. Ramakrishna recently, said the real issues were covered up and that attacks on the grounds of religion were on the rise.

The entire nation was shocked by the outrageous assault on women in Manipur but the culprits were at large even after 79 days. Mr. Eswarayya said the situation in Andhra Pradesh was also not good as the people’s problems were not being solved. He alleged that the TDP and Jana Sena Party were merely implementing the BJP’s agenda.

APUWJ Vijayawada president Chava Ravi and secretary Daram Venkateswara Rao, Indian Journalists’ Union member Sheikh Babu were among those present.
