The dead body of a woman, stuffed inside a bag with her legs tied to her neck, was found dumped in a municipal corporation garbage truck late Saturday night in Bengaluru.

The body was found in the rear lift of a Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) garbage truck near Channammanakere Skating Ground. The woman is believed to be around 25-30 years old. Her identity is not yet known.

“Last night, we found a dead body dumped inside a garbage collection truck. Between 1 and 3 am, someone had disposed of the body of a woman, packed in a bag and dumped into the vehicle,” a senior police official said.

“Her legs were tied to her neck, and the body was stuffed into a bag before being discarded in the garbage truck. The BBMP garbage truck driver noticed it and alerted us. Based on this, we have registered a case of murder and an investigation is underway,” the official added.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the woman may have been sexually assaulted before being murdered. She was found wearing a T-shirt belonging to a private company and a pair of pants, but no undergarments.

According to police, unidentified individuals arrived in a vehicle between 12:30 am and 12:40 am to dump the body. CCTV footage from the area is being reviewed as part of the ongoing investigation.

A murder case has been registered and further investigation is on.
