Leopardess gets entangled in fence near Tirupur, rescued

The leopardess was released into a deep forest area.

COIMBATORE: Forest department officials on Tuesday rescued a leopardess that got entangled in a chain-link fence on a parcel of agricultural land near Andipatti Block I reserve forest in Tirupur forest division.

According to forest officials, the owner of the agricultural land noticed the leopardess trapped in the fence installed around his property. He informed the forest department staffers, who rushed to the spot, recorded a video of the trapped leopardess and sent it to higher officials.Coimbatore forest veterinary officer S Vennila, retired veterinarian Manoharan and others arrived at the scene. The team sedated and rescued the leopardess, aged around two years, from the fence. There were no major injuries on its body. The animal was then placed in a cage and released around 5 km deep inside the Andipatti Reserve forest area.
