Let Revanth Reddy make 10 defected MLAs quit and re-contest, if he has faith in his work: KTR

Working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) K. T. Rama Rao expressed hope that people would deliver justice in the byelections in 10 constituencies represented by the BRS, whose MLAs after winning on the party symbol defected to the ruling Congress.

Speaking at a public meeting at Gadwal on Saturday (September 13), he reiterated that if Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had confidence in his performance, he must make the 10 defected MLAs resign and re-contest the elections. “The condition of the 10 defectors is pitiable as they can’t even say openly as to which party they belong to, as they have switched sides only to build their assets,” Mr. Rama Rao said.

Stating that the Supreme Court was serious about the defection issue, he asserted that byelections to the 10 constituencies were inevitable, despite all efforts being made by the Congress to avoid such a scenario. A large number of Congress leaders, councillors, former sarpanches and other public representatives joined the BRS at the public meeting. Mr. Rama Rao welcomed them into the party by draping them with pink scarves.

He reminded people that it was the BRS rule that had made Gadwal a district headquarters with the blessings of Goddess Jogulamba. A medical college was established there and Thummilla Lift Irrigation Scheme was completed to give water to the gap ayacut under Rajolibanda Diversion Scheme.

On Gadwal MLA Bandla Krishna Mohan Reddy, who defected to the Congress, the BRS working president said: “It is shameful that after joining the Congress, he still claims he is in the BRS. The Congress is looting farmers by selling urea in the black market. People voted in good faith, and now they are feeling betrayed. Is this why Mr. Krishna Mohan Reddy joined the Congress,” he asked.
