Panaji: With the sunshine returning to the state after nearly a fortnight of torrential rainfall, the ongoing weather conditions are expected to prevail until next week. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rainfall over Goa till June 10, with 'no weather warning' or colour-coded alert for the state until then. The southwest monsoon remained active over Goa on Wednesday, bringing light to moderate rainfall across most parts of the state. However, the capital city, Panaji, experienced intermittent spells of intense rain, which led to a slight dip in maximum temperatures.According to the meteorological department, Panaji recorded a maximum temperature of 32°C, which is one degree below normal. The rains provided brief relief from the heat, though overall weather conditions remained humid, with Panaji recording an 80% humidity value. The IMD forecast says that Goa is likely to receive one or two spells of rain over the next 24 hours. Daytime and nighttime temperatures are expected to remain stable, with the maximum around 33°C and the minimum around 26°C.Residents are advised to stay updated with meteorological department forecasts and take precautions during brief but intense showers. However, rainfall across Goa has visibly reduced, with several rain gauge stations recording only light showers over the past 24 hours.
