US President Donald Trump said Iran’s nuclear programme had been “obliterated like nobody’s ever seen before" by Israeli and US strikes earlier this month, and warned that America would strike without question again if Tehran tries to create nuclear weapons.
Speaking to Fox News, Trump said, “They were trying to seal up the entrance to where the bomb would most likely go in, and they did that. The bomb went through it like it was butter, like it was absolute butter."
The US military launched massive strikes at three Iranian nuclear sites in Fordow, Isfahan and Natanz on June 22 as part of Operation Midnight Hammer. Fordow was considered Iran’s most secretive and heavily protected site, buried in the mountains and supposedly out of reach of Israeli weapons.
However, at least seven B-2 bombers were deployed to strike the facility using GBU-57A “bunker-buster" bombs, which Trump says reduced Fordow to “just thousands of tonnes of rock. The whole place was just destroyed."
