Liquor shops in tri-commissionerate to remain shut for Ganesh immersion

The tri-commissionerates have ordered the closure of liquor outlets in view of the final immersion of Ganesh idols.

As per the notification issued by Cyberabad Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty, all toddy and wine shops, including bars in restaurants, will remain closed from 6 a.m. on September 6 to 6 a.m. on September 7 this year. Bars in star hotels and registered clubs have been exempted from the order.

Meanwhile, in Hyderabad and Rachakonda commissionerates, the restrictions will be in place from 6 a.m. on September 6 till 6 p.m. on September 7.

Rachakonda Police Commissioner G. Sudheer Babu, in the advisory, stated that except Bhongir zone, all liquor shops will be closed in view of the Ganesh idol immersion on Saturday and Sunday. 

The decision has been taken under Section 20 of the Telangana State Excise Act to ensure smooth conduct of Ganesh immersion across the commissionerate limits.
