Lisa lands new acting role opposite Ma Dong Seok, netizens react strongly due to other co-star’s past allegations

Earlier this year, BLACKPINK member Lisa made a historical move in her career after she starred as one of the characters on the hit show ‘The White Lotus’ season 3. Since then, there have been rumors about her next big acting role; however, nothing had been confirmed until recently.

However, her return to the acting scene after such a big debut is not without controversy due to a possible fellow actor.

Lisa’s lands new acting gig embroiled in controversy

According to MK Sports reports, the star has been considered for the role of an upcoming OTT film titled ‘Extraction: Tygo.’ If she takes on the project, the singer turned actress is set to work alongside the famed actor Ma Dong Seok.The project is reportedly still in talks and has not yet been officially confirmed.The film, however, has already found itself at the centre of a major debate due to another one of the casting announcements for the film. Actor Lee Jin Wook, known for ‘Squid Game’, ‘Beyond The Bar’, and ‘Goodbye Mr. Black’, had been involved in a sexual assault allegations case back in 2016.

What happened

At the time, an anonymous person had accused the actor of sexual misconduct and had filed a case as well. The star countersued and issued a statement at the time, citing that all of the accusations were false.

The accuser later took back her statement and was found not guilty of spreading false information a year later after the initial case was filed. She later also made claims about how the police and authorities involved in the case forcefully coerced her into changing her statement. In 2018, Jin Wook made an appeal to the court about their ruling, which was heard, and later helped in overturning the ruling.The woman was sentenced to 8 months in jail on the basis of spreading false information and accusations, with a two year probationary period after that.This caused widespread backlash online amongst netizens, who have time and time again called out and criticized the actor as well as everyone involved in the case.

Soon after the news of Lisa’s upcoming acting project was shared online, fans and netizens started sharing their excitement and opinions online. While many were extremely happy and overjoyed with her starring alongside Ma Dong Seok, many others criticized the production team for casting Lee Jin Wook in the project despite all of the allegations against him.One comment read, “an interesting tandem Lisa and MA dong seok.
