The TDP alleged that the powers-that-be during the erstwhile regime moved the Lok Adalat to get the Parakamani case diluted. It may be recalled that the case involving embezzlement of offerings made into the Srivari Hundi at Tirumala by a Mutt clerk C.V. Ravi Kumar created a sensation across the country.

TDP spokesperson and Andhra Pradesh State Biodiversity Board (APSBB) Chairman Neelayapalem Vijay Kumar and party’s Knowledge Centre Chairman G. Malyadri addressed the media on the issue here on Thursday. They claimed that the manner in which the accused was handled with kid gloves and the probe fast-tracked to be charge sheeted within three months clearly indicated pressure from higher quarters.

“The way the complaint was filed by a TTD official in the rank of Assistant Vigilance and Security Officer (AVSO) and received by a Circle Inspector in the local police station shows lack of seriousness to the gravity of the crime. Similarly, the manner in which the accused was given a safe exit through a ‘compromise formula’ by moving the case to the Lok Adalat indicates high pressure,” Mr. Vijay Kumar alleged.

Doubts on donation

Regarding the donation of the accused person’s landed properties to the TTD, Mr. Vijay Kumar wondered if it was permissible under law and also wanted to know the official who had represented the TTD in getting the properties registered.

The TDP leader demanded the CID’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) to dig deeper to find out the higher authorities who had given the orders to the TTD’s Estates Officer to get the properties registered.

“The TTD got properties worth ₹14 crore registered in its name, but who paid the registration and stamp duty of ₹30 lakh on behalf of Mr. Ravi Kumar remains unknown. The SIT has to find who signed the registration documents on behalf of the TTD,” he said.
