Karnataka Lokayukta Police arrested A. Chandrakanth, the Chief Officer of Koppa Town Panchayat on Tuesday, for accepting a bribe of ₹25,000 from a contractor.
The police trapped the officer following a complaint by a contractor. The accused allegedly demanded a bribe of ₹50,000 to clear a bill of ₹7.5 lakh related to road work. The contractor, not willing to pay the bribe, complained to the Lokayukta.
A team of officers led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Tirumalesh, arrested the officer while accepting the bribe.
